Places for culture - Casa delle Letterature

In the prestigious Borrominiano complex of the ex Oratorio dei Filippini situated in Piazza dell'Orologio, you can find the Casa delle Letterature of Rome, a centre for the citizens entirely dedicated to the Italian and foreign literature of the Nineteenth Century.
The Casa delle Letterature is the result of a cultural activity promoted and carried out in Rome by the Assessorato alle Politiche Culturali. It puts together the heritage of the experience formed during these years thanks to the work of the Department of Culture together with the Office for Conventions, Shows and Conferences Office.
It is, in fact the actual seat of this programming sector, the production centre for all scientific, literary and editorial proposals. In this way, the precision of the scientific approach is combined with the availability of making their deductions known to a large part of the City's public.
The institution of the Rome Library provides these permanent services: the library, the newspaper and the periodical library, specialised in Italian and foreign literature of the Nineteenth Century. The office for Conventions - Exhibitions - Conferences avails itself of the co-operation with Italian and foreign institutions, organisations, universities and cultural associations, in the Research and Planning of these projects. This precious network of relationships will be extended further because of the need of an approach to this cultural activity which is both international and inter-disciplinary
The Casa delle Letterature is the place in the city for literature and literature for the city:
